How I CoachMy basic coaching plan involves weekly telephone sessions. I am willing to meet in-person when geography permits, but most clients find that telephone sessions allow them to focus more easily. It also allows you to be in your own comfortable, private place during our sessions, and relax.
Because we use the phone, our respective locations aren't an issue; I've coached clients in other states, or even on vacation trips!
Typically, I schedule a regular weekly time for our calls. Basic calls are 30 minutes long, but I also offer 45 and 60 minute configurations.
You and I will work together to create a coaching program custom-fit to your needs. Depending on your situation, you may want a different amount of phone time, or to add features such as other phone, email or instant message exchanges, exercises, tools, books or other resources. For example, if you are a person with a clear goal in mind who wants accountability and cheerleading, regular phone sessions may be best for you. If you are looking for support in an fast-paced, hectic career, flexible online exchanges may work better. If you plan on making a major change in your life or business you may want longer sessions each week. No one client is the same.
Free Consultation
I offer a free, preliminary conversation and consultation with prospective clients, where we can answer your questions about coaching, and I can learn more about your specific situation. This gives each of us a chance to "test the fit", and gives you a taste of what the coaching relationship might be like. This session lasts about 30 minutes. It's the best way to decide if you want to go forward. If you click here, you can e-mail me about arranging one.
Once we've chosen to work together, and decided on your coaching plan, we'll schedule an "intake" session of about 2-3 hours. Before that session, I'll provide you with some exercises to help you articulate what is important to you now and in the future. We'll use the product of these exercises as the basis for our intake session, where we'll get to know each other, and set a direction. The intake session sets the stage for our regular coaching sessions, and should provide you with deeper insight and greater clarity about yourself and your goals.
Following the intake, our regular coaching sessions will begin. The coaching process takes time. Old habits and perspectives don't change in an instant, and often we discover hidden resistance along the way. Therefore, I ask for a minimum 3-month commitment from new clients. Usually by that point, we see results, and you can make a valid choice about whether the process is working for you. Most clients choose to stay beyond the initial 3-months.
